56th-59th BPSC (Pre) 2015
A. Amar Singh
B. Man Singh
C. Hakim Khan
D. Shakti Singh
Answer: Hakim Khan
Option c is the correct answer.
The commander of Rana Pratap's army was Hakim Khan, who fought valorously with him in the Battle of Haldighati (between the armies of Maharana Pratap, and the Mughal emperor Akbar's forces, led by Man Singh I of Amber) and died in 1576. Hakim Khan was a Pathan chief from Afghanistan, who had settled in Mewar and became a loyal supporter of Rana Pratap. He led the vanguard of the Mewar army, which consisted of about 800 cavalrymen and 400 Bhil archers. He charged at the Mughal army with great courage and skill, but was eventually killed by a musket shot from the Mughal ranks.
