Statement 1 is correct- Narasimha Saluva, a loyal leader, gained prominence during the weak rule of Virupaksha Raya II. Facing threats from Bahmani Kingdom and King of Odisha, he removed Virupaksha Raya II and became the ruler, starting the Saluva Dynasty around 1480, ending the Sangama Dynasty. This event is known as the "first Usurpation," and Vijayanagara became part of the Saluva dynasty.
Statement 2 is correct- Vira Narasimha deposed the last Saluva ruler Narasimha Raya II (r. 1491-1505) (Narasimha II, Immadi Narasimha Raya or Dhamma Thimma Raya) and seized the throne.
