The Elephanta Caves are a collection of rock-cut cave temples that are mostly devoted to Shiva. The 5.45 metres ( 17.9 ft ) high Trimurti sculpture, which represents three aspects of Shiva: the Creator, the Preserver, and the Destroyer, is located at the entrance of Cave 1, also known as the Great Cave. This sculpture is one of the most magnificent examples of Indian art and a symbol of the state tourism department.
