Malik Kafur:
Malik Kafur, also known as Taj al-Din Izz al-Dawla, was a prominent slave-general of the Delhi Sultanate ruler Alauddin Khalji.
He was captured by Alauddin's general Nusrat Khan during the 1299 invasion of Gujarat, and rose to prominence in the 1300 s .
Leading Alauddin's troops, Kafur triumphed over Mongol invaders in 1306. He then spearheaded expeditions in the south, conquering the Yadavas (1308), Kakatiyas (1310), Hoysalas, and Pandyas (1311). These ventures enriched the Delhi Sultanate with vast treasures, elephants, and horses.
He served as the governor of Devagiri and later became a powerful Na'ib (viceroy) in Alauddin's court.
After Alauddin's death, Kafur briefly acted as regent, attempting to control the throne by appointing a puppet monarch.
However, his rule was short-lived due to internal conflicts and opposition from Alauddin's former bodyguards. He was assassinated in 1316 by his bodyguard.
