It was usually practised in North India. The word is derived from the Sanskrit word yajamana which means a "sacrificial patron who employs priests for a ritual". Bara Balutedar system: It was a servant-cum-caste system that was found in the villages of Maharashtra, India. The Balutedari system was an important part of socio-economic life in medieval Maharashtra and Kumbhar was its important member.
